it's been a long time....

Gee, it's been ages since the last entry here and it was certainly not planned to last this long for the next post. That also tells you that it's been generally a busy time for us at Deviant Head and we were also away for a few days, spending some time in Brighton and London. Well, check the website, there's new titles up and quite a number of titles are offered cheaper for the holiday season, so take advantage of that!

We will add far more titles in the next few days and for sure more titles will be on special as well. There is a growing number of second hand titles we are able to offer you, since we are selling a large part of our own private record collection. Make sure you check back, since we are going to be adding more titles now that the records have been sorted and decided which ones go up on the website to be sold.

Speaking of old titles I have been often thinking about the differences between those records, and the ones that are released these days. I guess it really doesn't matter which type of music you take, the old classic titles will always be the favorites. Granted, there are lots of good bands these days, lots of talented musicians and many good labels, but it is just not the same.

Why is that? To me, first and foremost, it is because those old bands didn't have any formula how they wanted to sound. They just created their own sound and the results were often fabulous. The bands sounded different because there weren't that many around and they all took influences from different styles and eras. These days unfortunately everything's been done way too many times and a new band goes into the studio with the intention to have an album sounding exactly like the old so and so record. It's all possible today, which is wonderful, but on the other hand also boring and uninspiring.

What will this all lead to and what will music be like in 10 or 20 years from now? We shall see....

Gotta get going....

Josef
